So after serving me for almost a year, my Xperia phone has finally died and gone to mobile phone heaven, if there is such a thing. I had to find another phone to replace it, and here is what I decided to get!
It was a snap decision – I was planning to get one of those Asus phones – but they didn’t have any at the mall I went to so when I saw this, I didn’t even bother trying it or checking the specs. I just bought it immediately. I was in a hurry and didn’t want to stay longer in the mall than necessary.
So here it is! Unboxing…
Oppo is a brand that, admittedly, I am not very familiar with. Apparently Oppo Electronics is a Chinese brand based in the Guangdong Province. Their phones are record holders for being very thin, and their phones often have revolutionary features, such as a rotating camera among other things.
Here it is right out of the box! Color OS is pretty confusing, but I installed a standalone launcher so it would be easier for me. 🙂 I found it amusing that the screen had not only one but TWO protectors. One matte, the other clear plastic. But even with two protectors, the screen was very responsive.
The screen is 4.7 inches. Too big for my hands! The screen resolution is nice, though. It has 1,280 x 720 pixels, so it’s a 720p HD screen. 312 PPI is ❤
The rear camera is only 8MP, but it’s very clear and takes HD photos. The front cam is 5MP, making it a nice choice for narcissistic people like me. Haha, kidding!
Here’s my home screen! My main messaging apps (Skype, Google Hangouts, WhatsApp and Messenger) + weather widget.
And the apps I’ve installed! Oppo has only 8GB internal memory – told you, it’s midrange at best – but the card memory is expandable up to 128GB. Not to bad at all.
I know, I know. I have a lot of ebook reader apps. Since then I’ve added new games like Hearthstone, Summoner’s War and Yu-Gi-Oh! It’s quite good for gaming, no lag at all (unless there’s a connection problem).
I like the music player feature.
Main disadvantage of matte screen = thumb prints. Not mine, my niece’s.
It fits in quite nicely with my portable pink and white things!
Oppo Mirror 3
Specs – view here.
Rating: 3/5 Midrange at best.
Pros: Good for photos and games. Fast charging, good battery life. Nice screen density. Very affordable. Multi-touch. Ambient light sensor. Proximity sensor.
Cons: Sub-par internal memory. Too thin and light. RAM is average. No ParanoidAndroid yet! 😛
Do I Recommend This Phone?: if you’re just looking for a selfie device, go ahead! 😛
Okay, so that’s it for today. Thanks for reading!
