Raindrops

Why do raindrops have to fall?

Why do they come down at all?

From a dark and grey-flecked sky,

in a torrent from up high…

Washing everything away,

in a cold torrential sway.

Patterns everything in sound,

drums a rhythm on the ground.

Hiding shadows in the fog,

everything now waterlogged.

Why can’t they stop? Is there a rule

to twinkle like a stolen jewel?

From all I’ve learned, I can’t recall

why do raindrops have to fall?

        But they don’t represent you,

where I can finally meet you :3
